The Secret Shopper spoke to “Mr. Mark”. She specifically asked to speak with him because she had reports that he tends to treat TG kids more harshly than non-TG kids.

CovHou.com has recently received copies of correspondence between the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and Covenant House. The letters reveal that NASW and the Transgender Foundation of America has attempted to support Covenant House in ensuring that they treat all homeless children equally. However, the letter also expresses frustration over the Covenant House’s seemingly nonexistent willingness change.
After staff mocked the youth as being a “dyke” they were thrown out onto the streets. “After the intersex condition was discovered, they really treated me like… they made me feel inhuman.”

Every day we have kids who come to shower, do their clothes, get something to eat, etc who complain about Covenant House Houston prejudicial treatment of GLBT kids. Now, either ALL of these kids are telling the same lie or CH has yet to change policy and kids are still encountering staff abuse… even after they accepted $20,000.00 from Lady Gaga for their touted GLBT homeless services.
The testimonial reads, “FYI. The kids that would go to our Drop in Ctr [Center] back in the say [day] would talk about the harassment from the staff. Being openly gay was not an option. There is a real problem there. Your’re awesome… Hugs!”
